He was deputy chairman of the Esteghlal FC from 1998 to 2008 and was appointed as head of futsal committee by Ali Kafashian in November 2008.
On 27 May 2009 Rutemöller voided his contract with the Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran and joined Esteghlal FC as first assistant to work with the newly appointed head coach Samad Marfavi on a one year contract.
On 15 July 2011, he was appointed as Head of Technical Committee of Esteghlal by Ali Fathollahzadeh succeeding Nasser Hejazi.
