New Generation Party

Created in 2000 as a centrist grouping around former Mayor of Bucharest Viorel Lis, it was taken over in January 2004 by businessman Gigi Becali (owner of FC Steaua București), who became its leader.


Alexandru Chipciu

In the autumn of 2012 Chipciu helped Steaua Bucharest qualify from the UEFA Europa League group stage, after defeating teams like VfB Stuttgart, Molde FK and FC Copenhagen.

He scored his first goal for Internațional on 13 December 2009 against Steaua Bucureşti making 2-2 on Ghencea.

In the 1986 European Cup Final he was one of four Barça players – the others were José Ramón Alexanko, Pichi Alonso and Marcos – to have their penalty shootout attempts saved by FC Steaua Bucureşti goalkeeper Helmuth Duckadam, as the Catalans lost the decisive match in Seville (0–0 after 120 minutes).

Josep Moratalla

Even though used rarely in his first seasons, Moratalla started in the 1982 European Cup Winners' Cup Final, a 2–1 win against Standard Liège at the Camp Nou, and was a used substitute for Barcelona in the 1986 European Cup Final, lost in a penalty shootout to FC Steaua Bucureşti.
