In the summer of 2007, Salihovic trained with Bosnian Premijer Liga club FK Željeznicar, which is based in the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo.
He came up through all age levels in FK Vojvodina, but his senior career began with Sarajevo's FK Željezničar where he spent the first half of 1964-65 season.
From January 2005 until January 2006, he played in Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina traditionally strongest club, FK Željezničar from the capital Sarajevo.
He was promoted to the position of a head coach in FK Željezničar, after Ratko Ninković had resigned.
Just like all the other founders of FK Željezničar, he worked as a railway worker in Sarajevo.
