There are two institutes of higher education in Eumseong county that are both located in Gamgok-myeon - Far East University and Gangdong College.
Today, the term remains in the names of some longstanding institutions, including the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok, Far Eastern University in Manila, and the Far East University in South Korea.
