Williams, a left-arm fast-medium bowler, was a good enough player in his youth to have represented Rhodesian Nuffield, South African Schools and Rhodesia Country Districts by his 18th birthday.

22 September - Indian fast bowler Irfan Pathan completes a 21-wicket-haul for the two-Test series against Zimbabwe, equalling the record for wickets taken in two-Test series.
The Zimbabwe XI contained some players with experience of Test cricket – such as their captain and wicket-keeper Tatenda Taibu, and fast bowler Christopher Mpofu – and ODI cricket.
Patel's work with world-renowned fast bowling coach Ian Pont has paid dividends both at Corbett National Park and in Lahli, where Patel spent time under the coach's guidance at HCA training camps to generate more pace and improve his swing.
He subsequently served as the director of the Somerset academy, and was appointed England's fast-bowling coach from March 2006 in succession to Troy Cooley.
