The scientific activities of Boris Grinyov center on the study of the fundamental properties of scintillation materials: searching for new scintillators, and developing instruments and devices based on scintillators for applications in various fields ranging from high energy physics (the BaBar, Belle and Alice experiments and the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope, among others) to medical devices.
The telescopes primary objective is to photograph gamma ray bursts in the Universe and does this with two NASA satellites, the Swift and Glast.
