unusual facts about Florida panther

Pseudorabies

Pseudorabies has been reported in other mammals, including brown bears, and black bears, Florida panthers, raccoons, coyotes, and whitetail deer.

Florida State Road 29

From Immokalee, SR 29 travels along the western edge of the Big Cypress National Preserve and the eastern edge of the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge and the Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Forest before reaching its southern terminus at US 41 (Tamiami Trail).

Tamiami Trail

Plans for the I-75 extension changed for two reasons; Alligator Alley needed upgrading as the then-narrow toll road was dangerous to both motorists and wildlife (most notably the Florida panther) alike; and State Road 836, with its left exits and narrow lanes, was not being built to Interstate Highway standards.
