The name, logo and the original slogan “Pushing Scandinavian Rock to the Man!” was inspired by blaxsploitation movies from the early 70’s like Superfly, Foxy Brown and Dolemite.
Damion was also dispatched to Power's sister station Hot 97 in New York in an effort to “smooth out” relations between the station and several artists and record companies in the wake of the infamous February 2001, shootout between the entourages of rappers Lil' Kim and Foxy Brown in front of the station’s front offices.
The How to Be a Player Soundtrack, released by Def Jam Recordings on August 5, 1997, featured the hit single "Big Bad Mama" by Foxy Brown featuring Dru Hill.
Compton, California rappers N.W.A. sampled "I Just Want to Celebrate" in the song "Real Niggaz Don't Die" from their 1991 album Niggaz4Life Rapper Foxy Brown also sampled "Real Niggaz Don't Die" in the song "BWA" from her 1999 album Chyna Doll.
Asked about her style, she states "I can't pinpoint a particular style or artist but I'm a fan of Mos Def, Da Brat, Snoop Dogg, Aaliyah, Foxy Brown and the newest one Azealia Banks. I also enjoy everything nice from Norah Jones, Bob Marley, Erykah Badu, to German artist Kool Savas, Xavier Naidoo ... all of these artists' music have played a very important role in my personal life."
