Pennefather had been married to former Solicitor General of Canada Francis Fox when it was revealed in 1978 that he had forged the signature of his then girlfriend's husband on a form granting permission for her to have an abortion.

Howard Francis Fox (March 1, 1921 – October 9, 1955) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for three different teams between the 1944 and 1954 seasons.
On May 26, 1883, a party led by the English mountaineer Francis Fox Tuckett, and including the guide F. Devouassoud and the landscape painter Compton, also ascended the mountain by the pass that now bears Tuckett's name.
