During his club career, he played for Highlanders, SC Kriens, SR Delémont, FC Zürich, Moroka Swallows, Dynamos and Free State Stars, and was also a member of the Zimbabwe national team.
In August 2013, Abraw joined Free State Stars in the South African Premier Soccer League, signing a 2-year contract with the option of a further year.
The player has been in big demand with all of the big spending clubs in South Africa but remained loyal to Free State Stars until the end of the 2012-13 season.
After a brief spell with Tusker in 2003, Opiyo moved to South Africa to sign with Premier Soccer League side Free State Stars.
In August 2002, the PSL bought two Premier Division licences, from the owners of Ria Stars F.C. and Free State Stars F.C., the PSL dissolved the license to ease fixture congestion and reduce their own costs by 400k ZAR per month as each top tier club received 200k ZAR on a monthly basis from the PSL.
