In July and August they took part in the Fuji Rock Festival and in September they released their first major album "Hello Hello Hello".
For the promotional tour for this album they played hundred of concerts in Spain, Italy and in Japan where they concluded the Fuji Rock Festival with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Their final live performance was at the Fuji Rock Festival on July 28, 2000, with the announcement that they wish to pursue indie careers.
Guitarist Corey Lee Granet (formerly of the Los Angeles based band The Warlocks) was in the band until their appearance at Japan's Fuji Rock Festival in 2007, and Rebecca Casabian and Nikolas Haas joined shortly after his departure.
Summercamp toured the US, Europe and Japan in support of their release, including the second stage of the 1997 Lollapalooza, the 1997 Pukkelpop, and appearing at the very first Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, 1997.
For about 3 years, Syrup16g kept up a backbreaking pace of touring and studio work, consistently releasing more than one album a year and never failing to both tour in support of the albums and appear at major events such as the Rock in Japan Festival and the Fuji Rock Festival.
The band continued to tour throughout 2005, including appearances at SXSW, Glastonbury Festival and Fuji Rock Festival.
In 2004 Ohe Shinya ended his lengthy musical hiatus to reunite with the original lineup of the Roosters to perform at the 2004 Fuji Rock Festival.
They have also toured to Japan playing one of the largest festivals there with over 100,000 people attending in 2005, The Fuji Rock Festival as well as one of London's largest, The Glastonbury Festival.

The book also includes chapters on the Fuji Rock Festival, climbing Mount Fuji and Mount Haku, impressions of Tokyo and Hokkaido, as well as details of teaching at a Japanese Junior High School.
Previous winners of the competition have included High Tide (2008), who went on to perform at the Fuji Rock festival; I.O. (2009), later nominated for "Best Band" and "Best Newcomer" at the Golden Melody Awards; and most recently Trash (2012).
