UAH began baseball play in 1996 under head coach Bobby Pierce, who guided the Chargers to four GSC East Division titles and one GSC championship (2001).
In July 2000, the GSC welcomed Harding University and Ouachita Baptist University, making it the largest NCAA conference at any level with 18 schools.
Savage attended Gulf Breeze High School in Gulf Breeze, Florida, played club soccer for Pensacola Revolution, and played college soccer at the University of West Florida, where he was GSC Freshman of the Year in 2003.
The species is known from only the holotype, a single, mostly complete adult female, now deposited in the Geological Survey of Canada collections as specimen number "GSC No. 22689".
The holotype part and counterpart are included in the Geological Survey of Canada, Ottawa collections as GSC 127632a and GSC 127632b.
