After receiving his education at the preparatory school Gilman School in Baltimore, graduating in the class of 1966, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University in 1970.
Marcus Ranum was born in New York City, and graduated from Gilman School in Baltimore, Maryland before attending Johns Hopkins University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1985.
He also hosts a weekly Tennis Summer camp at Gilman School and began his tenure there as the Varsity Tennis Head Coach in the Spring of 2012, where he led the team to a 12th place finish at the DecoTurf High School National Championships in Kentucky.
