The album's liner notes state that "Springtime Promises" was written "after a ride on a number 74 bus from Gloucester Road to Greencroft Gardens on an early spring day".
This failed to locate Martin, though a witness did come forward to report seeing a boy fitting his description in the company of a blond haired man aged about 30 on Gloucester Road underground station.
Additionally, Gloucester Road is the residence (in the form of 25B Froxbury Court) of the fictional barrister Horace Rumpole of John Mortimer's Rumpole of the Bailey series of short stories.

The planning of the line encouraged the local land owners, including Lord Kensington, to extend Cromwell Road westwards and the opening of Gloucester Road station, stimulated rapid residential development in the surrounding area.
One resident of note was George Herbert Volk, second son of railway engineer Magnus Volk, who worked in a small workshop at 86 Gloucester Road in the years 1910-1912.
