He also pursues his full-time study during the same period, obtaining a degree of MSc in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) & Management in 2009 with the medical schools of four different universities: University of Montreal, University of Ottawa, Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (Barcelona) and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Rome).
In September 2013 he wrote an open letter to The Times in which he said companies should be sure that all expenses spent on research were necessary in order justify the high prices demanded for new products assessed by health technology assessment (HTA) bodies such as NICE.
Pedrizzetti is a member of the European Society of Mechanics (EUROMECH), American Physical Society (APS), European Society of Cardiology – European Association of Echocardiography (ESC-EAE), ERCOFTACT Committee SIG 37 (Biological Fluid Mechanics) and Scientific Committee CIRHTA (Inter-University Consortium in Health Technology Assessment, Pisa, Italy).
