Buckingham College, Cambridge

As a result of patronage by the family of Henry Stafford, 2nd Duke of Buckingham, the name of the institution was changed from Monks' Hostel to Buckingham College (the change is known to have occurred between 1472 and 1483).

Henry Stafford, 1st Baron Stafford (18 September 1501 – 30 April 1563), who married Ursula Pole, daughter of Sir Richard Pole by his second wife, Lady Margaret Pole, Countess of Salisbury, daughter of George, Duke of Clarence and Lady Isabel Neville, daughter of Richard Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick ("Warwick, the Kingmaker").

At the accession of Henry VIII on 21 April 1509 Stafford was imprisoned in the Tower on suspicion of treason, but was released without charge.
