Founded in 1967, this camp now consists of 800 acres around Bunting Lake in the Hiawatha National Forest south of Munising, Michigan.
After three years of teaching various sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Michael Dombeck joined the U.S. Forest Service as a fisheries biologist on the Hiawatha National Forest.
On April 25, 1974 three marker monuments, two boulders from the Hiawatha National Forest on Lake Superior and a flagpole were dedicated at the site.
