unusual facts about His Name is Alive

Anti-Social Music

Inspired by the success of the Nitrate Hymnal, ASM has partnered with innovative composers working outside the classical and jazz traditions in a new DIY commissioning program called "ASM Sleeps Around." The first partnership was with experimental hip hop group Dälek; the second was with Warn Defever from His Name Is Alive.

Godzuki

The band was formed in 1993 by Erika Hoffmann (vocals, bass guitar, Farfisa organ, also of His Name Is Alive, Saturday Looks Good To Me), Chris "Crispy" Fachini (lead guitar, bass guitar also of The Dirtbombs, His Name is Alive, Teach Me Tiger, Detroit Cobras, and Rocket 455), Dion Fischer (guitar, Moog, also of The Go, Infinity People, F' ke Blood, Tranzistors, The Dirtbombs, Wildbunch, and His Name Is Alive), and Scott Michalski (drums).

Nice Day EP

After the completion of the tour for Stars on ESP, His Name Is Alive leader Warren Defever found himself with a steady lineup for perhaps the first time in the band's history; veteran vocalist Karin Oliver and drummer Trey Many, along with newer members: vocalist Lovetta Pippen and bassist Chad Gilchrist, along with Defever himself on guitar, and newer vocalist Erika Hoffman (who sings on four of the six tracks).

Velour 100

The second album Of Color Bright used three new vocalists: Tess Wiley of Sixpence None the Richer, Sydney Rentz of Morella's Forest and Karin Oliver, also of His Name Is Alive.
