The acequia is still in use today and is an Historic Civil Engineering Landmark and a National Historic Landmark.
Designed by Robert Maillart and completed in 1930, in 1991 it was the first bridge to be designated an International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
