Humat al-Hima was temporarily used as a national anthem between the end of the monarchy on 25 July 1957 and the adoption of Ala Khallidi as the official national anthem.
Dervish Hima was an extreme opponent of Ottoman rule in Albania and author of a number of radical manifestos calling for an all-out struggle against the Ottoman Porte.
During the heights of 2011 Tunisian Revolution which toppled the president Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali, she had released her slow interpretation of the national anthem of Tunisia - Humat al-Hima with positive response.
