Darryl Anka (born on October 12, 1951) started his Hollywood career as a special effects designer working on such films as Star Trek: The Motion Picture, I Robot, Pirates of the Caribbean, Live Free or Die Hard and Iron Man.
The MX-3 has made several cameos in movies and TV shows to include The Italian Job(twice), Dumb and Dumber, I Robot (with a Kit on, parked in an alley), The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious (John Walsh’s MX-3), Analyze That, Cellular (film), Postal (film), John Doe (TV series) and Session 9.
The book was optioned in manuscript by Paramount Pictures and assigned to cult director Alex Proyas, who developed two scripts before abandoning it to make "I,Robot.".
"I, Robot" and "The Trial of Adam Link, Robot" were the basis of two episodes of The Outer Limits, one from the original series "I, Robot" in 1964, and one from the revival series "I, Robot" in 1995.
His credits include episodes of NYPD Blue, The Practice, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Babylon 5, Sliders, Gilmore Girls, and The Outer Limits where he directed his father in the episode "I Robot".
A newer model of G.I. Robot, designed by fictional character Lex Luthor for use by the United States military, was introduced in Batman Confidential #4, by Andy Diggle and Whilce Portacio.
