He played three seasons in the Finnish top division Mestaruussarja and was signed by Swedish Allsvenskan club IK Brage in 1988.
After spending 12 months at ÖFK and upon expiry of his contract, Ryan opted to leave the club signing for Borlänge based club IK Brage for a period of up to 2.5 years.
He also featured in the 1980 Svenska Cupen Final, which ended in a penalty shoot-out victory over IK Brage at the Råsunda Stadium.
