A Gathering of the Tribes was a two-day music and culture festival in October 1990 organized by The Cult's Ian Astbury and promoter Bill Graham.

He joined original members Ian Astbury, Billy Duffy and Jamie Stewart, with whom he had recorded the Love album, to perform "The Phoenix" and "She Sells Sanctuary" as a second and final encore to a live performance of their 1985 album Love.

Neurotic Outsiders

Axl Rose from Guns N' Roses, and Ian Astbury, Billy Duffy, and Mickey Curry, all from The Cult, which Matt Sorum played with both before and after Guns N' Roses, all made guest appearances on the Steve Jones solo album Fire and Gasoline.

The Wondergirls

In its initial, short lived incarnation, the band featured Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland, Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray, Ian Astbury of The Cult, Shannon Leto of Thirty Seconds to Mars, Jay Gordon and Ryan Shuck of Orgy and Julien-k, Doug Ardito of Puddle of Mudd, Ken Andrews of Failure, Martyn LeNoble of Porno for Pyros, and Troy Van Leeuwen of Queens of the Stone Age.
