The finals were held in Israel from 26 May to 9 June 1964 and the Israeli national football team won the title with a perfect record of three wins, defeating the teams of South Korea, Hong Kong and India.

In March 2011, Bashir represented Pakistan in their unsuccessful 2012 AFC Challenge Cup qualifying campaign, appearing at the heart of the defence alongside Zesh Rehman in defeats to Turkmenistan and India.
He also represented India at under-16, under-23 and full international level, playing at the President's Cup.
Banerjee was the captain of the Indian National Football Team in 1956 Summer Olympics held in Melbourne.
He is best known for playing in the India national football team's first ever match and scoring the first ever Indian international goal ever in the 1948 Olympics against France.
