Known as one of the nation's most successful high school coaches, Lee led the St. Louis Crusaders to 14 Prep Bowl titles, 18 Interscholastic League of Honolulu championships, and the inaugural HHSAA State Championship in 1999.

Iolani ended the 2012 season winning their 8th consecutive Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division II title (second in consecutive league titles behind Cal Lee's St. Louis Crusaders, who won 16 consecutive ILH titles between 1986 and 2001) and a 6th consecutive state Division II title (8th overall).
