Carthage, South Dakota

Carthage gained a small amount of attention when it was featured in the book Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer.

Jake Kasdan

In 2006, Kasdan received his first Golden Globe nomination for Walk Hard in the Best Original Song category (shared with John C. Reilly, Judd Apatow, and Marshall Crenshaw), but lost to "Guaranteed" from Into the Wild (written by Eddie Vedder).

Lee's Ferry

Scenes from the movie Into the Wild (based on the book by Jon Krakauer) were shot on location at the Lee's Ferry National Park Service Station, which featured actors Emile Hirsch as Christopher McCandless and Steven Wiig as the Lee's Ferry Ranger, Steve Koehler.

Salton City, California

The 1996 book Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer mentions Salton City as a place where Chris McCandless stopped in his travels and spent time with a man named Franz.

Coclé Province

Gippsland phantom cat

They are currently 200 plants in nurseries, and especially the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is trying to reproduce the seedlings with the help of Ex-situ conservation to reintroduce this species into the wild after efforts to remove the invasive hibiscus were successful.

Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre

Rescued animals that are deemed suitable for release into the wild are relocated to a Wildlife Rehabilitation Station (WRS) created by Wildlife Alliance in Koh Kong Province, Cambodia.
