Evans first met actor Ioan Gruffudd during the filming of 102 Dalmatians, while she was in her eight-year relationship with Olivier Widmaier Picasso, a grandson of painter Pablo Picasso.
Hood also penned the screenplay for the 1998 television film The Echo, a thriller starring Clive Owen, as well as the serial In a Land of Plenty featuring Robert Pugh and Man and Boy with Ioan Gruffudd.
He appeared in several other British television dramas, including Deacon Brodie (with Billy Connolly), Shackleton (as Frank Wild) with Kenneth Branagh, Omagh, Hornblower (with Ioan Gruffudd), The Street, Waking the Dead, Spooks, Silent Witness and New Tricks.
The following year he won BBC Television's Double Exposure screenwriting award for his 60 minute television play, A Relative Stranger, which was first broadcast on BBC2 in 1996 starring Siobhan Redmond (Alison Fraiman), Suzanna Hamilton (Jenny Bell), Ioan Gruffudd (Nigel Fraiman) and Jason Isaacs (Peter Fraiman).
Written by Michael Hitchcock, and directed by Wendey Stanzler, it aired on Fox in the United States on November 14, 2013, and features the return of special guest stars Ioan Gruffudd as Paolo San Pablo, the Funny Girl leading man, and Peter Facinelli as Rupert Campion, the show's director.
