2007 Island Games

The 2007 Island Games were the 12th edition of the Island Games, and were held in Rhodes, Greece, from June 30 to July 6, 2007.

2011 Island Games

The 2011 Island Games was the second Island Games to be hosted by the Isle of Wight (the fourth island to host multiple Games).

Guernsey Football Association

Both the Men's and Women's teams compete in the Island Games and the Men's team have won it on two occasions in 2001 and 2003.

Lathbury Barracks

In 1995 the government furnished the barracks with 1,000 bunkbeds to accommodate the athletes competing at the Island Games hosted by Gibraltar that year.

Women's basketball

Basketball (for both men and women) is one of the sports that the host nation of the Island Games may select for competition.


Faroe Islands women's national football team

They took part in the Island Games in 2001, 2003 and 2005 and won all three tournaments, as well as appearing at the 2010 edition of the Algarve Cup.

Lee Merrien

Merrien competed at his first Island Games in Gotland in 1999, however he did finish in a medal position that year.
