Hurtle Square

It was named by the Street Naming Committee after James Hurtle Fisher, South Australia's first Resident Commissioner.

The year 1840 saw the first local government in Australia with the election of a mayor, three aldermen and fifteen councilors to the new Adelaide Corporation with James Hurtle Fisher as the first mayor who ran office from 1840 to 1842.
