On 27 May 1945, Okinawa and the escort ship Aguni were attacked by American aircraft in the Korea Strait.
Aguni (粟国), constructed at Nihon Kokan, Tsurumi, laid down on February 15, 1944, launched on September 21, 1944, and commissioned on December 2, 1944.
