He was part of the inaugural group of recipients of the Order of Hockey in Canada along with Jean Béliveau, Cassie Campbell-Pascall, Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe.
In 1957, Beliveau appeared in full uniform on the American game show To Tell the Truth.

As part of the NFB in Montreal, he wrote and directed documentaries and short dramas including the 1951 documentary Royal Journey, Here's Hockey, a 1953 documentary about ice hockey featuring Montreal Canadiens star Jean Beliveau.
Wayne Gretzky is in favour of renaming the Conn Smythe Trophy after Jean Béliveau, creating a different trophy with the same name.
