This is valuable for its notices of contemporary authors such as Ben Jonson, whom he praises as the greatest English poet; this manuscript was reprinted in Joseph Haslewood's Ancient Critical Essays (vol. ii., 1815); Nero Caesar, or Monarchie Depraved (1624), with special note of British affairs.
There are other modern editions of the book, notably one in Joseph Haslewood's Ancient Critical Essays (1811–1815).
Joseph Haslewood, who published a facsimile of that of Wynkyn de Worde (London, 1811, folio) with a biographical and bibliographical notice, examined with the greatest care the author's claims to figure as the earliest woman author in the English language.
