Suns In My Blood (1945) contained at least three poems that have come to be considered classics: "Sun Is a Shapely Fire", "There Runs a Dream", and "The Legend of Kaieteur" (this last poem was later set to music by the Guyanese composer Philip Pilgrim).
Neither of these species are found downstream of the Kaieteur Falls.
Nine waterfalls are found on the Potaro River, most notable being Kaieteur Falls and Tumatumari Falls.
Most of the film focuses on Dorrington's flights near Kaieteur Falls, in Guyana.

The film also explores the Kaieteur Falls themselves, a local man named Marc Anthony Yhap, a local diamond miner, and the white-tipped swifts (Aeronautes montivagus) which roost in an inaccessible cave behind the falls.
