While at Southern Cross Catholic College, Jones used to train at the Redcliffe club in Scarborough, Queensland, and was coached by Ken Wood.
Once Completed the combination of star design team and influence of Ken Wood resulted in a high profile course launch involving Bill Rogers, Jack Nicklaus, Seve Ballesteros and Isao Aoke.
