Buckhorn Ski Club

A popular "Wine in the Pines" wine tasting event is held in September and the club goes white water rafting on the Kern River in June.

Garces Memorial High School

The school is located near the terminus of the Panorama (aka China Grade) Bluffs on the exact site that Father Francisco Garces wrote would make a perfect place for a mission for the local Indian populace in his exploration of the Rio Bravo de San Felipe now known as the Kern River.

Golden Empire Transit

Golden Empire Transit's Maintenance Facility is located on Golden State Highway, next to the Kern River (on the north frontage road).

Greenhorn Mountains

The Kern Canyon, a dramatic and deep canyon cut by the Kern River, cuts a path through the Greenhorn Mountains that is also used by State Route 178.
