In the 2009 hit drama The Great Queen Seondeok, Bidam (Kim Nam-gil) is portrayed as a friend of Princess Deokman (later Queen Seondeok of Silla), and as the secret, abandoned son of Mishil and King Jinji (a fact invented for the series).
The title track is a cover of Kōji Tamaki's "Roman," and the single also includes Kim's two songs in the Queen Seondeok soundtrack.
Kim is the youngest of the three brothers in his family, and is a close friend of Lee Kwan-Woo and Lee Dong-Gook.
Kim's work follows in the tradition of Mo Yunsuk and Noh Cheonmyeong.
Shin was influenced by older-generation activist poets, so-called "poets of the masses" (minjung shiin), such as Kim Nam-ju and Shin Kyeong-nim, and genuinely anguished over the problem of the path literature should take in society and history.
