Großes Torfmoor, bei Hille, Minden-Lübbecke county, North Rhine-Westphalia
Minden Land in its narrower sense includes the towns and villages of Minden, Hille, Petershagen and the northern part of Porta Westfalica, as well as Lübbecke, Espelkamp, Preußisch Oldendorf, Rahden and Stemwede in Lübbecke Land.
The collegiate church of St. Andrew in Lübbecke had been founded as a chapter of St. John (Johanneskapital) at Ahlden on the Aller, before it moved to Lübbecke in 1295.
The Weser Hills cross the counties of Minden-Lübbecke, Schaumburg and Hameln-Pyrmont in a roughly east-west direction, from the town of Porta Westfalica and the Westphalian Gap in the west past Rinteln to Hessisch Oldendorf in the east, where they transition seamlessly to the Süntel, a ridge of similar height running from northwest to southeast.
Their northern section runs in an east-west direction roughly from the territory of Bramsche (northwest of Osnabrück) via Ostercappeln, Bad Essen, Preußisch Oldendorf and Rödinghausen, Lübbecke, Hüllhorst and Bad Oeynhausen as far as the towns of Minden and Porta Westfalica on the Porta Westfalica gorge and River Weser.
