Games were played at the Lake Oval, Albert Park, then the home ground of South Melbourne, as it was the only ground equipped to host night games.
Because the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Lake Oval were taken over by the United States Air Force as bases, Melbourne and South Melbourne had to play their home games elsewhere, whilst the Junction Oval for two seasons and the Western Oval for 1942 were also commandeered.
The club played at the South Melbourne Cricket Ground in Albert Park until the 2005–06 season when it relocated to the outer suburban Casey Fields, and it was renamed to reflect its new home.
