unusual facts about Lake Thun

Gundoin, Duke of Alsace

Gundoin probably intended to link his duchy with the region of the Aar and extend his authority as far as Lake Thun.

Beatus of Lungern

Beatus then ventured south to the mountains above Lake Thun, taking up a hermitage in what is now known as St. Beatus Caves, near the village of Beatenberg, probably in the ninth century.
