As well as being a lifelong member of the Kent County Cricket Club he was also a member (President 1996–2007) of the Kent Hoppers Tie Club which was founded by his very dear cricketing friends Hopper Levett and Les Ames.
Forced to follow-on in their second-innings, Kent reached with 324/3, with Les Ames scoring an unbeaten century to help guide Kent to a draw.

Described as "cast by nature for the leading part", Todd was unlucky to play in the same team as the Kent greats Les Ames, Frank Woolley and Tich Freeman, and as such often felt that "his own act didn't matter very much".
