The zoo contains a variety of animals and birds, such as Donkeys, Coatis, Rheas, Maras, Red Junglefowl, Lady Amherst's Pheasants, Red-legged Seriemas, Ring-tailed Lemurs, Kookaburras, Sacred Ibis, Cattle Egrets, Little Egrets, Eurasian Eagle-Owls and White-naped Cranes.
This phenomenon is not confined to a single species, with Tiger Bittern, Black Bittern, Little Egret, Pond Heron, Indian Pitta and Kingfishers all being affected.
Summer passage birds of the Suncheon Bay area include Nycticorax nycticorax, Bubulcus ibis, Egretta garzetta, Egretta alba modesta, Ardea cinerea, Charadrius dubius curonicus, Alcedo atthis bengalensis, Motacilla cinerea robusta, Motacilla alba and Acrocephalus arundinaceus.
Over 400 Little Egrets, Pond heron and near threatened Painted Stork nest in this grove of 20 huge, century old Maruthu, Mahwa, Neem and Illuppai trees and feed in a the many agricultural fields, a few ponds and the Tamiraparani River adjacent to it.
It has also attracted indigenous endangered species including Painted Stork, Grey Heron, Darter, Little Cormorant, Little Egret, Intermediate Egret, Cattle Egret, Common Teal, Spotbills, pintail, and flamingos.
