Henry Dwight Barrows

In 1859 1860 he again turned to farming, cultivating a vineyard near the city on the east side of the Los Angeles River.

Figueroa Street Tunnels

It merges into SR 110 at Alpine Street in Chinatown, south of the tunnels, and splits in Highland Park, north of the Figueroa Street Viaduct over the Los Angeles River.

After leaving Union Station and crossing the Los Angeles River the line follows the San Bernardino Freeway and El Monte Busway until just after the Cal State L.A. station; it then runs in the median of the San Bernardino Freeway to the El Monte Station.

In 1868 the City Council relinquished its rights to the water in the Los Angeles River in favor of businessmen Lazard, John S. Griffen and Prudent Beaudry, and the three created the Los Angeles City Water Company.
