The idea of organizing a festival during Pongal showcasing the culture of Tamil Nadu was conceived by Kanimozhi, Member of Parliament from Tamil Nadu and daughter of M Karunanidhi and Rev.
He is also the grandnephew of DMK president and ex-chief minister of Tamil Nadu, M Karunanidhi.
His mother is the sister of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
