Soman was born to teacher parents on 5 June 1953 in Ochanthuruth, an island village in Kochi, Kerala, as their fourth son.
The cast includes Soman (Kesavan Nair), Swapna (Saramma Thomas), Meena (Aliyama), Captain Raju (Babu), Vincent (Joykutty) and Mala Aravindan (Kunchan).
Kaur finished seventh in the 4 x 400 metres relay at the 2004 Summer Olympics, together with teammates Satti Geetha, K. M. Beenamol and Chitra K. Soman.
