K. Subramaniam adapted Sevasadanam as a Tamil movie, which was the first film for the famous Carnatic music singer, M. S. Subbulakshmi.
His caricatures on prominent people like Barack Obama, Gandhi, Mother Teresa, A. R. Rahman, Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Mike Tyson, M. S. Subbulakshmi, Abdul Kalam, Charlie Chaplin, Dalai Lama, Saddam Hussein, Fidel Castro, Luciano Pavarotti, Yasser Arafat, Aung San Suu Kyi etc., received wide accolades and prominence to him.
Other major influences on Mala's playing are the expertise and repertoire of noted vocalist and teacher Radha Viswanathan and of Radha's mother and guru M.S. Subbulakshmi whose family Mala joined by marriage.
He has accompanied eminent artists over five generations, including Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavatar, Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar, Chembai Vaidhyanatha Bagavathar, Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, M. S. Subbulakshmi, Madurai Somasundaram, D. K. Jayaraman, M. Balamuralikrishna, Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan, Lalgudi Jayaraman, T. V. Sankaranarayanan, Mandolin U. Srinivas and others.
A recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi and Kalaimamani awards, Narayanaswamy accompanied renowned musicians like M. S. Subbulakshmi, S. Rajam and Guruvayur Dorai.
