M83 "Sir Hercules", after Hercules Robinson, 1st Baron Rosmead, who had succeeded Sir Henry Bartle Frere as High Commissioner for Southern Africa in 1880 and after whom two towns in South Africa were also named.
Kurland's work also appears on the cover and liner notes of French electronic/shoegaze group M83's 2004 album Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts, as well as the covers of the EP releases for this album.
Papineau has also loaned her vocals to other bands, including Air, M83, Anubian Lights, Farflung, P.O.D., and Crooked Cowboy and the Freshwater Indians, and recently collaborated with Japanese composer Jun Miyake on his album Stolen From Strangers.
The limited edition of the album included a bonus remix disc featuring remixes by artists such as Timo Maas, UNKLE, and M83.
The Art of Flight soundtrack features songs by: The Naked and Famous, M83, Deadmau5, Sigur Rós, and others.
“I wasn’t attempting to mimic anything, but instead of writing songs in the same vein as the last record I felt like the whole joy of being in your own project is to pursue your passion,” Christian says, citing groups like Empire of the Sun and M83.
