However, during a parliament session on 18 April 2005, Lee Hsien Loong, the Prime Minister of Singapore, announced the cabinet's decision to develop two casinos and associated hotels and malls in Marina South and Sentosa.
The building of the Marina Barrage required the relocation of Clifford Pier from Collyer Quay to Marina South (see Marina South Pier).
Located along it are The Sail @ Marina Bay, the landmark promontory space, Central Linear Park (under construction), Marina Bay Financial Centre (under construction), and eventually Marina South Pier and the future Marina South residential community.
