March 10- Marvin Hagler retains his undisputed world Middleweight title with an eleventh round knockout of John Mugabi, Thomas Hearns wins the NABF Middleweight title with a first round knockout of James Shuler, and Gaby Canizales wins the WBA world Bantamweight title with a seventh round knockout of Richie Sandoval, who was critically injured and almost died in the days after the fight.
Widely traveled, he was the only African journalist that covered the historic Marvin Hagler/Sugar Ray Leonard bout in Las Vegas in 1987, and with his wife the only Africans that attended the global Sports Radio Conference, San Diego in 2002.
In 1991, he beat Marvin Hagler's half brother, Robbie Sims, by a knockout in round seven, followed by a close, disputed decision win against Thulani Malinga, and a one-punch KO victory against Dan Sherry.
As a kid he dreamed of becoming a fighter and was inspired by boxers such as Thomas Hearns, Marvin Hagler and Muhammad Ali.
