The actor lives in Potsdam, where GZSZ is also filmed and is said to be friends with co-stars Jörn Schlönvoigt, Sarah Tkotsch, Anne Menden and Felix Isenbügel.
He also held chaplaincies in several parishes in France (including Neuilly-sur-Seine, Charleville-Mezieres, Armentieres and at the Walburgeschule in Menden, Germany) while collecting material for his doctorate.
He later served as a priest in Bösperde, a suburb of Menden and provost of St. Petrus and Andreas in Brilon.
In 1344 he entirely rebuilt with improved defences the town of Menden after it was destroyed by Count Adolph II of the Marck, having granted it municipal rights earlier in his reign.
