4 unusual facts about MicroStation

Bentley Systems

MicroStation Version 1, which allowed users to download files directly from their VAX system to their PC to view and plot them (a very primitive Bentley View), was introduced to the market in 1986.

MicroStation

The latest versions of the software are released solely for Microsoft Windows operating systems, but historically MicroStation was available for Macintosh platforms and a number of Unix-like operating systems.

Its initial development was a result of Bentley Systems's experience developing PseudoStation released in 1984, a program designed to replace the use of proprietary Intergraph graphic workstations to edit DGN files by substituting the much less expensive Tektronix compatible graphics terminals.

National CAD Standard

The National CAD Standard (NCS) is a collaborative effort in the United States between the National Institute of Building Sciences, the American Institute of Architects, and the Construction Specifications Institute, to create a unified approach to the creation and collaboration of building design data by means of building information modeling and integrated into CAD software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD.
